2024

I have dubbed 2024 my “year of no fear.” Following a challenging 2023, those familiar with my journey understand the significance of this declaration. Despite a bumpy start to the year, my resolve remains unshaken. I’m channeling my energies into exhilarating outdoor adventures and diving into new projects with novel techniques. Stay tuned for updates and visuals on my site soon!

Embarking on creative journeys often leads to exciting discoveries and innovations in our craft. This time, I’ve turned my attention towards denim upcycles. Denim, with its durability and timeless appeal, offers endless possibilities for transformation into trendy and eco-friendly products.

Exploring the “Montana flair” in my latest creations, I’ve ventured into designing larger bags and totes that embody the rugged yet sublime beauty of Montana. This collection not only offers functionality but also ensures a touch of Montana’s unique charm in your everyday ensemble.

Simultaneously, the beloved “Dishy Towels” continue to be a staple in my collection. It’s always a delight to incorporate fresh ideas sent by friends into these designs, making each piece uniquely appealing.

As we look towards the future, I’m thrilled to engage further with the community and gather your opinions. Which designs resonate with you the most? Your feedback is invaluable as it inspires and shapes my creations.

In preparation for the array of craft fairs in 2024, I’m bustling with anticipation to showcase these new and original pieces. Stay tuned for more updates and I hope to see you at the fairs!

Let’s make something wonderful together.

The Perfect Gift

My son gave me a hydroponic mini garden for Christmas so that we may have fresh greens all year long.  I thought, that’s a lovely and thoughtful gift.  He really considered our lifestyle and, in my mind, picked the perfect gift.

It got me to thinking about gift giving.  I have always believed that a gift should be a luxury as well as useful for the recipient. And, it doesn’t necessarily have to be flashy or expensive to make that person happy. It should be something that they would hesitate to purchase for themselves, but something useful or that makes their lives easier.   I suppose that is one of the reasons I like to embroider.  It personalizes the gift for the recipient, so something as mundane as a dishcloth or a potholder really becomes something special.

I love the hydroponic garden and have had several cuttings from it since Christmas, just look how much it grows!  It really is the gift that keeps on giving!  Thank you, my sweet son, for your thoughtfulness!

So many talented people

Most Tuesday mornings, I venture to the Marion Trading Company to play cards and visit with my neighbors. I am always in awe of all the talented people who live in Marion. I walk in to this cute little bistro, and see so many beautiful arts and crafts items from just the folks who live in this community. It puts a smile on my face every time to know that there are so many others close by that share my passion for creating.

New Year’s Resolution

January 3, and I already broke my resolution, which had to do with this website, sad to say. I made a resolution to write a blog daily. Already missed January 2nd.

Good news: I can pick myself up and try again.

Bad news: We lost one of our four-legged fur babies today. Our “cat-dog” Vinnie passed away peacefully in his bed. He was a pain in the ass from the moment we met, but we loved our Vinnie-Voo.

Other thoughts: Have you checked the Events page? I will be teaching some sewing classes this year and would love to see some friendly faces in the crowd. If you are interested, check it out here.

There, I resurrected my resolution. Let’s see how many days in a row I can go this time. At least I know I will beat last time for sure. Now I am going to bed to pet my other fur-babies. Good night.

Vinnie is the one who looks the least interested in being photographed.

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2022

Welcome to my new website, Montana Martha.  Getting here has been about a life-long journey, so hopefully it was worth the wait.

When I (with the encouragement of close friends) came up with the concept of a blog, I wasn’t sure of what it would be.  I still don’t know, but here I am, one step closer to creative expressions and endeavors.

One of my inspirations sits at my computer (in my still partially finished office) and reminds me of what I am about.  I may not have all the original ideas, but when I decide to do something, I almost always put my own spin it.

So, I hope you join me in this crazy, wonderful journey as I take it one step at a time closer to “living the dream” that is “making it” in my Montana home.  I can’t wait to see where it takes us.
