My son gave me a hydroponic mini garden for Christmas so that we may have fresh greens all year long. I thought, that’s a lovely and thoughtful gift. He really considered our lifestyle and, in my mind, picked the perfect gift.
It got me to thinking about gift giving. I have always believed that a gift should be a luxury as well as useful for the recipient. And, it doesn’t necessarily have to be flashy or expensive to make that person happy. It should be something that they would hesitate to purchase for themselves, but something useful or that makes their lives easier. I suppose that is one of the reasons I like to embroider. It personalizes the gift for the recipient, so something as mundane as a dishcloth or a potholder really becomes something special.
I love the hydroponic garden and have had several cuttings from it since Christmas, just look how much it grows! It really is the gift that keeps on giving! Thank you, my sweet son, for your thoughtfulness!
